Bovine Polish National Meeting – Beef farming in synergy with market needs
Organised by the EU funded BovINE network with participants from the EIP Agri Sustainable Beef Focus Group.
The BovINE network held the webinar ‘Sustainable beef: what is the role of grass-based production systems?’ on 27th September 2021.
The European beef sector produces meat to feed a growing global population, and it produces many other valuable products and services. However, it faces challenges relating to economic, social and environmental sustainability, the nature and extent of which vary according to the production system. Join the EU-funded BovINE network and the EIP-Agri Focus Group on Sustainable Beef Production for this webinar on how grass-based beef production systems, based on agroecology principles, can become, and remain, sustainable.
This webinar included presentations on enhancing farm performance, farm-to-table value chain development, certification and labelling, communication and knowledge exchange, and will be of interest to stakeholders from across the European beef sector with an interest in sustainability.
The BovINE network held the project’s public meeting on the 22nd June 2021. This meeting, organised and hosted by French project partners IDELE and FNB, focused on the Sustainability of European Beef Farming highlighting the challenges and discussed the possible solutions.
This online event featured a networking session organised around the project’s four thematic areas – Animal Health and Welfare, Environmental Sustainability, Production Efficiency and Meat Quality and Socioeconomic Resilience.

Beef industry stakeholders all over Europe are invited to attend the first trans-national meeting of BovINE – the first and only EU-funded Beef Innovation Network – to focus on improving sustainability across the sector.
BovINE’s online meeting, Sustainable Beef Farming: Policy & Practice in the Context of the Green Deal, will focus on how sustainability can be improved within the industry by sharing research innovations and examples of on farm good practices with European stakeholders.
The event on Tuesday 1st December is organised by BovINE – the EU-funded network project focused on addressing the sustainability challenges being faced by the beef farming sector.
Keynote speakers will include Janusz Wojciechowski (European Commissioner for Agriculture of Poland, tbc)), Grzegorz Puda (Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development of Poland, tbc), Jean Pierre Fleury (Chairman of Copa-Cogeca WP on Beef and Veal), Jacek Zarzecki (President of the Polish Association of Beef Cattle Breeders and Producers), and Jean Francoise Hocquette (Scientific Reference Group of International Meat Research 3GF, INRAE, President of EAAP cattle commission).
